Ooohhh, they have ‘Fuck’ in their band name, how, like, totally controversial...

Seriously, is that the best they could do? It strikes me more as a cry for help, than a band name for the ages – but hey, who am I to judge. My last word on the subject is that with a name like that, these boys had to produce a killer album, otherwise they would have been wide open to ridicule.

Luckily for them, new album LP delivers a slice of aggressive electronica that will be remembered for all the right reasons – the music.

LP comprises nine instrumental tracks of (for the most part) hard, driving percussion – glued together by some tight keyboard samples. Stemming from a live recording approach, the band improvises off the back of their rhythm section, utilising their two drummers to maximum effect. It is a ‘take no prisoners’ approach - but for all their noise, their tracks also have a canny ear for melody. The result was enough to see them recognised as one of the best breakthrough acts at Glastonbury in 2007.

'Milkshake' and 'Pulse' are great examples of the band doing what they do best, but ‘Lovely Alien’ shows that they are no one trick pony – this is an ambient slice of electronica that is simply captivating.

Top stuff.
