ADRIAN HAILWOOD

Inspired by David Hockney’s iconic painting, A Bigger Splash, Adrian Hailwood sent out wave after wave of black lipped models. Resplendent in sun bleached tones and blocky shapes, the girls looked like born and bred Los Angelean royalty (giving off a vastly different vibe to Kate Sylvester’s black lipped bunch of naughty socialites).

Hailwood strongly favoured silk – sending out gowns and separates in all manner of colours, including a Dynasty inspired show-stopper: a red full-length number that would have sent Alexis Carrington wild. Tight pants and jackets appeared in light denim as well as gem toned satin. Overall the vibe was retro – from the pretty florals to a classic Wedgwood blue pattern seen on a couple of shirts and dresses. The ultimate retro nod? Hailwood’s sleek turbans (evoking images of starlets smoking poolside), which are sure to be the must have accessory of 2010.
